- Yes, you can. A simple way to check would be to look at the access times on
- the mailbox once you have installed your .forward.
- But why would you want to remove your mailbox? Why not just leave it there,
- with zero length? On most systems the mail directory is world writable, so
- someone else could create a mailbox for you with world readable/writable
- perms. If you ever rm your .forward, you will start using this ``fake''
- mailbox.
