  29. In fact, the next release of UTS or UTS4 (General Availability = April 1993)
  30. is based on UNIX System Laboratories'(USL) SVR4.1 Enhanced Security(SVR4.1ES).
  31. UTS4 is a value added 370-architecture specific SVR4.1ES that has been enhanced
  32. to extend a standard compliant, open system operating system to the Enterprise
  33. environment. Amdahl has added approximately 5 million lines of code to provide
  34. value-added enhancements required by commercial, enterperise customers (in
  35. comparison to the 2 million lines of code shipped by USL).

  37. Some of the UTS4 value added features are MP kernel (that's right. UTS4
  38. provides symmetric multiprocessing support for configurations up to 
  39. eight-way processors), config(1M), migration aid tools and backup/restore 
  40. and many more commands and features.

  43. standards, including: AT&T SVID, Issue 3; the IEEE POSIX Part 1(P1003.1),
  44. System Application Program Interface(API); and, the X/OPEN Portability 
  45. Guide, Issue 3 (XPG3), OSI(Government OSI Profile(GOSIP)), X/Windows V11R4,
  46. OSF Motif 1.1 GUI standards, etc.
