  13. I encountered these same messages once when I was upgrading the memory in my
  14. BSD/386 system (Compudyne 386/25 original model).  I turned out that the memory
  15. expansion board did not like the cheap 3 chip 1MEG SIMMs, but worked fine when
  16. I got the 9 chip variety.  I am now running 8 9-chip 70ns 1MEG SIMMs.

  18. The system would work fine until it needed the area where the 3-chip SIMMs were
  19. mapped into.  If I placed the 3-chip SIMMs in the lower memeory area the system
  20. would barf on the way up.

  22. The 9-chip SIMMs are about $5 more, but worth it.
