- Well, the problems on a gateway are fixed. The problem with the
- hard drive controller not being initialized correctly was due to a
- BIOS setup. In a Gateway there is an internal 8k cache in the CPU.
- If this is enabled, the system does not recognize the IDE controller,
- however, if this is disabled the system works perfect, including
- all network operations. Unfortunately disabling the 8k cache decreases
- the machines processing power dramatically!!

- Now the only problem is getting X to run. The VGA is a 8514/A compatable
- card. I ftp'd the Xfree86 server for 8514/a cards, but it doesn't seem
- to work. does anyone use this driver?? (Version 0.1 of the driver)
