- Hello!
-
- I've got a semi-serious problem on my hands that has gotten out of my
- control. I've been getting on a regular basis a A3091 error that I have
- no idea what it means or causing it.
-
- I've got a A3000UX with a 1.7GB Maxtor and 52Q Quantum drive. The Maxtor
- and Quantum are in a external case with the Maxtor terminated. There are
- NO drives inside the A3000UX, however, the Rev 8. motherboard is properly
- terminated. The cable length total is only about 3-4 feet in length from
- end to end.
-
- The system will run fine anywhere from 2-12 hours (random)...with HEAVY
- disk activity until all the sudden the Maxtor drive light comes on and
- stays on as well as the A3000UX HD activity light.
-
- Being my 2 years experience with SCSI, I assumed it was a termination problem.
- Knowing things were already terminated "properly", I experimented with about
- every combination thinkable with no avail.
-
- Here is the error I get:
-
- a3091 0x49 0x70ECAF8
-
- This error is very consistant, and doesn't change in value. I've started to
- mess with jumper settings on the Maxtor drive, but still have had no luck.
-
- Also, a Disk Block Scan via an AmigaDOS program from GVP comes up with a clean
- slate, and no errors are reported for the entire drive...so I've outruled a
- bad block somewhere on the drive. Does anyone at all have a clue as to
- what that error means, and what I might be able to do to avoid it. If it
- means anything, I've also tried a completely different A3000UX machine and
- the same problems come up. Keep in mind, things will work fine for quite
- some time, and with some heavy disk activity too... My feeling is that
- there is something incompatable with the A3000 and the 1.7 Maxtor drive. God,
- I hope not, I bought it for the reason of keeping news around awhile longer.
-
- Thanks, Brian Vargyas, Amiga Network Information Systems, Chicago, IL.
