- I am having trouble reading files in the IBM CDROM reader attached
- to my RS/6000 (Model 350, AIX 3.2.2). I am creating the CD's with
- the Topix software from Optical Media International. The CD Writer is
- Philips' CDD 521 attached to an MS-DOS machine.
-
- The CD's I make are just fine if I put them on another PC with almost
- any make of CD drive. But if I put them on the RS/6000's IBM CDROM
- drive, the following types of problems occur:
-
- 1) any file without a three letter extension appears to be missing;
- An "ls" command on the AIX machine reports that all files with no extension
- are missing, e.g.,
-
- ./filename file not found
-
- 2) There is a small text file that I want to have on each CD; It's name is
- volid.nnn, where n is a number. ls -l reports that this file is present and
- has 7 bytes (which would be correct if it were true), but in fact the file
- has no bytes.
-
- 3) I also find that CD's that were mastered by Sony Corporation
- and then duplicated have
- problems too. "ls" lists only about half the files in the directory. The
- rest of the files are there: I know their exact names so I can process them
- in various ways, but "ls" doesn't know about them.
-
- All of these disks are supposedly in High Sierra 9660 format, but it seems as
- if there is some inode problem. Does anyone have any experience with this
- stuff? Has anyone found CD making software that produces CD's that AIX
- can read without problems?
