- The team I am working with are trying to construct an X server running
- on the RS/6000 under AIX 3.2. Our company has a specialized graphics
- product called VARS which is display-list based and we are trying to put
- X on it. For input devices, we were hoping to use a mouse and keyboard
- connected to the standard ports on the RS/6000 and use some of IBM's
- sample X server code to drive these. The sample code uses the HFT
- driver.
-
- Unfortunately, the HFT driver on our RS/6000 will not load at the
- moment, presumably because it has no display adapter. Does anybody know
- if the HFT driver can be used without a display adapter, and if so, how
- to configure it to operate in this manner?
-
- Alternatively, does anyone know how to drive the mouse and keyboard at a
- lower level using /dev/sioms0 and /dev/siokb0 ? I can't find any
- references to driving the devices at this level in InfoExplorer.
-
- Please direct any replies as follow-ups or Email me as ija@fcsl.co.uk --
- I am Emailing this to a news posting machine as postnews is not working
- at my local site.
-
- TIA for any help.
