  12. Hi,
  13.      I wish to use an additional section level, but **don't want it to  
  14. affect the table of contents**.  I have tried deepsection.sty and it fails  
  15. on this measure.  (It seems to do some strange stuff to the toc.)
  16. I want my levels to be
  17.  
  18. I. section 1
  19. II. section 2 
  20. A. subsection 1
  21. B. subsection 2
  22. 1. subsubsection 1
  23. 2. subsubsection 1
  24.  
  25. This I have already. But now I want \paragraph{nextleveldown} to produce
  26. 1.1 nextleveldown  
  27. etc.  but not to appear in the toc.  How can this additional counter be  
  28. created?  I have looked at deepsection.sty  and have no idea why it messes  
  29. up the toc.

  31. I have even tried to \setcounter{tocdepth}{3}
  32. but that didn't work.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.
