  14. I am in the process of preparing an index for a book. All of my files
  15. were prepared in Tex (LaTex), and the book is about 160 pages long
  16. (single spaced).

  18. I know about the \index and the \makeindex commands in Latex, but I
  19. did not write the document with an index in mind, i.e., no \index
  20. commands have been inserted ==> an efficient search, insert, and make
  21. are necessary to generate the index.

  23. Please, would anyone have an intelligent index routine that I could
  24. use to make my job easier ? if so, please e-mail me a brief
