- I had this problem when I copied figures that already had cross
- reference markers in their captions. To fix this, you can switch to
- visible text symbols mode and delete the cross reference markers in
- question. Then you create the cross references again.

- The reason Maker gets confused over copied cross references is that
- they have the same ID internally.
