- It already does log retry counts. Try doing an "mt -f /dev/nrstX status"
- after the drive has been closed. One of the fields is "retries". Be sure to
- use the non-rewinding device name.

- Dunno about those other bytes, though. It's possible they may be firmware-
- dependent, with different resellers doing different things, and therefore
- useless for a generic driver.
