- I have two Sun 3/80's, one with a disk and one with no disk. I would like
- to make the 3/80 with the disk a server and the other a diskless client.
- I have the SunOS 4.1.1 relase tapes for sun3x kernel architecture, but
- the tape drive is attached to another machine, a sun 4/90 running 4.1.2.
- I thought that I should be able to use a remote tape drive, but neither
- add_client or add_services gives me that option.
-
- 'add_client' gives this error:
- >Becoming a server for sunos 4.1.1 sun3x's
- >Setting up server file system for services
- >
- > add_services: cannot position media device /dev/nrst8 to file number 1.
- >Please mount sunos 4.1.1 sun3x release media volume 1
-
- When I try to run 'add_services', nothing happens. The disk works for a
- few seconds, then the screen clears and the c-shell prompt returns with no
- error.
-
- How do I make 'add_services' work? Obviously it works when it is called
- by 'add_client' but not when run directly. I have looked at the
- documentation for 4.1.1 and it looks like 'add_services' is what I want.
-
- Can anyone help me? I need to get the second 3/80 up and working!
-
-
- Thanks in advance!
