  15. I am having problems getting a Sun Sparc 1 I've inherited at work to talk
  16. to a system I have at home.

  18. The problem is that (running uucico manually with -x9) the modem dials 
  19. properly and my chat script seems to work properly (up to and including 
  20. sending the password), however after that the last thing that uucico
  21. prints is 'imsg>' and then it just sits there until the system I am calling
  22. times out, hangs up the line, and I see a few garbage characters and a
  23. DISCONNECTED message from the modem.

  25. Unfortunatly, I do not see any of the usual :

  34. so I am not sure where communication is breaking down.

  37. The master is a Sun Sparc 1 running Sun OS 4.1.1, and is calling a Coherent
  38. system running 4.0. The modem on the Sparc is a Telebit Trailblazer.

  40. Unfortunatly, I don't have much in the way of documentation. Also, the system
  41. I got did NOT have uucp on it, so I pulled uucp from a 4.1 tape (yes, I
  42. said that the OS is 4.1.1) so I am not sure if that causes any problems.

  44. The Coherent system does not even see the Sparc login (zero bytes in the
  45. uucico log file), so the connection is obviously not being established.
  46. On the other hand, I am not sure what the Sparc is waiting for (what does
  47. imsg> mean ?). Also, the login that I am using into the Coherent system is
  48. used by other systems, so I don't believe there is a fundamental flaw in
  49. the setup of the Coherent side.

  51. Although I realize that I am not giving much in the way of details, I believe
  52. that contents of my Systems, Permissions, etc., file are correct, but more
  53. importantly the system is being dialed, it's just that there is no protocol
  54. negotiation going on.

  56. BTW - the Sparc .Log/uucico files for the system I am calling simply state that
  57. the 'dial' is successful, and that the 'login' is not.

  59. I am looking for any clues as to what to look for, since at this point I
  60. am really not sure where to go.
