- We are experiencing some minor problems in setting up our Suns.
- We are reconfiguring them as what used to be a diskless client now
- has a disk.
-
- 1. Problem One, EEPROM woes
-
-
- We have been unable to set the default boot location to boot off of the
- new disk.
-
- When we run eeprom, we get as output
-
- hwupdate=Wed Dec 31 18:00:00 ...
- memsize=4
- memtest=4
- scrsize=1152*900
- watchdog-reboot=true
- default_boot=true
- bootdev=sd(0,0,0)
- diagdev=(0,0,0)
- diagpath= ...
- ....
-
- Yet, when we reboot the machine, it informs us that there is no default
- boot device.
-
- b sd(0,0,0) brings us up normally at this point, but we would like the system
- to try this itself automatically upon rebooting or powerup.
-
- 2. NIS passwd woes
-
- The second problem concerns the NIS server.
-
- Whenever, we try /usr/etc/yp/ypush passwd
-
- I get message yppush: Map does not exist.
-
- I checked /var/yp/cs.wiu.bgu.edu
-
- And it has the files
-
- passwd.byname.dir
- passwd.byname.pag
- passwd.byuid.dir
- passwd.byuid.pag
-
- Our /etc/domainname file specifies cs.wiu.bgu.edu
-
- Any idea how we can chase this problem.
