  10. We are experiencing some minor problems in setting up our Suns.
  11. We are reconfiguring them as what used to be a diskless client now
  12. has a disk.
  13.  
  14. 1. Problem One, EEPROM woes

  17. We have been unable to set the default boot location to boot off of the
  18. new disk.
  19.  
  20. When we run eeprom, we get as output
  21.  
  22. hwupdate=Wed Dec 31 18:00:00 ...
  23. memsize=4
  24. memtest=4
  25. scrsize=1152*900
  26. watchdog-reboot=true
  27. default_boot=true
  28. bootdev=sd(0,0,0)
  29. diagdev=(0,0,0)
  30. diagpath= ...
  31. ....

  33. Yet, when we reboot the machine, it informs us that there is no default
  34. boot device.
  35.  
  36. b sd(0,0,0) brings us up normally at this point, but we would like the system
  37. to try this itself automatically upon rebooting or powerup.

  39. 2. NIS passwd woes 
  40.  
  41. The second problem concerns the NIS server.
  42.  
  43. Whenever, we try /usr/etc/yp/ypush passwd
  44.  
  45. I get message yppush: Map does not exist.
  46.  
  47. I checked /var/yp/cs.wiu.bgu.edu
  48.  
  49. And it has the files
  50.  
  51. passwd.byname.dir
  52. passwd.byname.pag
  53. passwd.byuid.dir
  54. passwd.byuid.pag
  55.  
  56. Our /etc/domainname file specifies cs.wiu.bgu.edu
  57.  
  58. Any idea how we can chase this problem.
