- Hello,
-
- Has anyone successfully converted to C2 security with a heterogeneous
- environment of NIS clients. (ie, Ultrix, AIX, SunOS, etc.) The NIS master
- is a Sun.
-
- I'm not particularly interested in C2 auditing, but I would like C2
- authentication. That is, I would like to keep the encrypted passwords in
- /etc/security/passwd.adjunct and /etc/security/group.adjunct. However, it's
- not obvious how to accomplish this with a mixed environment. Ultrix appears
- to have similar functionality with the auth database, but it's incompatible
- with NIS. AIX, (heavy sigh) is another animal altogether.
-
- Is the "new and improved" NIS client software which makes this possible
- (ypbind, rpc.pwdauthd, etc.) available for Ultrix and AIX? Or is there
- perhaps a way to fake out Ultrix and AIX such that C2 authentication can be
- implemented without modification?
-
- Kerberos is just around the corner, but C2 authentication would be a nice
- interim step. Any and all help appreciated. Even if the answer is "you
- can't get there from here", that would be good to know to.
