- I do not want to distract from the flamewar about Solaris 2.1, but
- while trying to get it interoperating with our 4.1.3 environment I
- failed to get shadow passwords to work with the 4.1.3 YPserver.
-
- We tried in the nsswitch.conf file both the 'files nis' and the 'compat'
- ways of working, but from looking at some strings in shared libraries
- and doing a 'truss' on a login process I get the strong suspicion that
- there is no way to get this to work without creating a /etc/shadow file
- on 2.1 containing all our passwords.
-
- I hope I am doing something wrong. The answerbook is totally silent about
- interoperating at this level.
-
- Any hints from Solaris guru's? Do they already exist(the guru's)?
