  11. I do not want to distract from the flamewar about Solaris 2.1, but
  12. while trying to get it interoperating with our 4.1.3 environment I
  13. failed to get shadow passwords to work with the 4.1.3 YPserver.

  15. We tried in the nsswitch.conf file both the 'files nis' and the 'compat'
  16. ways of working, but from looking at some strings in shared libraries
  17. and doing a 'truss' on a login process I get the strong suspicion that
  18. there is no way to get this to work without creating a /etc/shadow file
  19. on 2.1 containing all our passwords.

  21. I hope I am doing something wrong. The answerbook is totally silent about
  22. interoperating at this level.

  24. Any hints from Solaris guru's? Do they already exist(the guru's)?
