- I got one of the ZEOS Pocket PCs about two weeks ago, and I've tried it out
- with a few things. It seems to work well with the TRANTOR SCSI PLUS, and a
- CD-ROM player. MSCDEX is running. Just reading text, tar, copy, etc.
-
- The SOLECTEK pocket LAN adapter has a test program that tells you whether
- your parallel port is compatible. It says that the ZEOS is OK. The cable
- plus adapter combo isn't very pretty, but its the only option, because the
- PCMCIA slots are v1.0 (memory only) and type I (3mm only). I'm going to
- try it with a Beame & Whiteside NFS demo disk when that arrives. Their
- protocol stack only uses about 60K of RAM.
-
- Someone mentioned the right shift key. Its small and seems too far to the
- right, I keep missing it and hitting the up arrow key. Otherwise the keyboard
- is tolerable.
-
- The manual is 214 pages, 160 of which are for MS-WORKS. RacePen takes another
- 25. there's a short appendix on DOS. Works has built-in XMODEM, which i used
- to copy Interlink to another machine. This utility mounts ones machine's
- drives onto another through the serial line. Once it's running, there's no
- need to bother with XMODEM. They even include a 9 pin null modem, plus serial
- and parallel cables that go from their micro connectors to standard DB-9,25.
-
- Hope this is of use to someone. I'll follow up with more results as I get them.
-
- (won't be reading any news/email for a week though)
