- We're looking at purchasing an HP LaserJet 4 to connect to our
- Novell NetWare network, and I was wondering about a few things.
-
- What we're planning on getting:
-
- HP LaserJet 4
- - PostScript
- - JetDirect Ethernet card for Novell Netware.
-
- Now, my questions are:
-
- 1. How well will this work with the vanilla Novell printing
- software? For instance, when we've used dedicated print servers in the past
- (using PSERVER.EXE), we've had problems with printing graphics. Will
- we have problems with the LJ4, since I assume it looks like a NetWare
- print server? Do we need something like LANSpool to make this work well?
-
- 2. If we attach Macs to our network (which we intend to do),
- under NW4Mac will we be able to use this printer? Do we need a specific
- version of NW4Mac? (We have v 3.01 I think) If not, what can we do to
- provide connectivity to this printer?
-
- 3. This is less network directed, and more general. HP claims
- that due to their memory compression, most 600dpi documents can be printed
- in the standard 2M. Now we plan og getting at least 6M, but will that
- suffice for all our needs? Memory is cheap enough so that I'd rather have
- extra, but if we really won't need it, there's no point in spending the
- money.

- Please reply by E-mail, and I'll summarize to the net.
