- AK>I recently grabbled Novell's 311pt9.ZIP, so that I could patch our
- AK>newly installed NW 3.11. The readme file in the archive mentions
- AK>that one should install patches ONLY FOR PROBLEMS WHICH ARE BEING
- AK>EXPERIENCED. The problem is that I rather not wait to experience
- AK>some of the problems which are being patched (like FAT corruption).
- AK>
- AK>After having called Novell, they wanted $150 for a simple "Yes" (insta
- AK>all of the patches) or "No", so I gave up on that. A friend of mine
- AK>told me to go ahead and install all of the patches, and so I did (all
- AK>of those relating to the installation -- no MAC or NFS patches, for
- AK>example). This includes PATCHMAN and FATFIX and most others.
- AK>
- AK>Is this okay? Any problems? I am simply unsure about patching NW 3.1
- AK>and Novell won't give me a straight answer. I didn't find any info on
- AK>this question in the FAQs either.

- Andy,
-
- Your method is exactly the way I handle new patch archives. Novell
- should change their readme file to contain the statement: "Only for
- problems which are being experienced or could conceivably occur with your
- system's setup."
-
- BTW- The latest patch archive is 311PTB.ZIP.
