  13. I would be very interested in understanding how this is done.  I roamed
  14. through Compu$erve last night trying to track down the system calls for this,
  15. but came up with nothing.

  17. I did track down a PD chunk of software that obtains the serial numbers by
  18. presenting itself to the network as a file server.  Whenever a new FS shows up
  19. on the net, the serial numbers are exchanged between all FSs.  Kind of a
  20. unique way to check on it...
