- The Webster app on my '030 cube running 2.1 has recently started
- behaving strangely -- it dies with a protection violation trying to
- access memory location 0x3 when searching for words in the dictionary
- (the thesaurus works fine). Some searches (such as "North America")
- work fine, but most get the protection violation.
-
- I have a copy of the 2.1 distribution on optical, so I tried it.
- When I booted from that disk, Webster worked fine. I assumed from
- that that either the application or the data files in
- /NextLibrary/Reference had been corrupted. However, copying both over
- from the optical disk did not solve the problem.
-
- Thus, it appears that something else in the environment is causing the
- problem (sdmach? Workspace.app?)
-
- Before I go ahead and rebuild my entire hard disk, I thought I'd send
- this out to see if anyone else had seen similar behavior. I can't
- find any other app that is misbehaving...
