  10. The Webster app on my '030 cube running 2.1 has recently started
  11. behaving strangely -- it dies with a protection violation trying to
  12. access memory location 0x3 when searching for words in the dictionary
  13. (the thesaurus works fine).  Some searches (such as "North America")
  14. work fine, but most get the protection violation.

  16. I have a copy of the 2.1 distribution on optical, so I tried it.
  17. When I booted from that disk, Webster worked fine.  I assumed from
  18. that that either the application or the data files in
  19. /NextLibrary/Reference had been corrupted.  However, copying both over
  20. from the optical disk did not solve the problem.

  22. Thus, it appears that something else in the environment is causing the
  23. problem (sdmach? Workspace.app?)

  25. Before I go ahead and rebuild my entire hard disk, I thought I'd send
  26. this out to see if anyone else had seen similar behavior.  I can't
  27. find any other app that is misbehaving...
