  11. We just added a 1.2GB external disk and it mounts just fine on its  
  12. host machine (named bullnext).  However, we have that host machine  
  13. setup as our server (serving user home directories) but I can't see  
  14. the external disk in the /Net directory tree.  I added a line to the  
  15. /etc/fstab file to mount the disk as follows:

  17.     /dev/sd1a /External 4.3 rw,noquota,noauto 0 2

  19. The /External disk (directory) shows up fine off the root directory  
  20. of the machine that hosts the drive.  However, no other machines on  
  21. our netinfo network see the directory /Net/bullnext/External.  We  
  22. have configured bullnext:/ for NFS export in NFSManager.  Does anyone  
  23. have any hints why the external disk isn't visible to other machines  
  24. on our netinfo network?

  26. Also, a related question.  The documentation says that if we want to  
  27. place users home directories on the external disk to specify a mount  
  28. point of /Users in the /etc/fstab entry.  What I would like to do is  
  29. mount the external disk as /External then use NFS to mount  
  30. /External/Users over the /Users directory on our server, and to do  
  31. the same with /LocalApps and /LocalLibrary.  I tried setting up the  
  32. /Users mount in NFSManager but it wouldn't mount; the boot process  
  33. just sat there saying 'Retrying' - I had to Ctrl-C to break out of  
  34. it.

  36. I'd like to not have to devote the entire disk to just my /Users  
  37. directory.  Any suggestions?
