- Ok, i want to post my experiences with tip (I am actually using thant @&^#$ thing for writing this
- lines).
- the UNIX put and get commands work ONLY with UNIX systems, and only with 7bit datas, please refer to
- the "Network and System Administration" Manual, that was supplied with your NeXT, you will find the
- manual pages properly formatet at the end.
- To make the thing worse, you have to be sure to use a "proper" shell, this means, a shell, that
- handles the escape-characters, like ^A properly, tcsh DOESN'T.
- Furthermore, you will have problems, with your Modem or Computer sending somewhat faster than the
- remote host, and you won't get all bytes in some casees (mostly while PUTting)!!!
- So, use Z-modem, kermit or something similar for binaries, it's safer!
- Sources known to me are:
- - tip3: A tip-clone written in very clean ObjC
- - pcomm: A ProComm clone with Vt100-Windows User-Interface
- - zmodem: A hell lot of good/bad usable & unusable sources
- (Speaking here in conjunction with tip!)
