  21. No, you do need the Hayes eXTender to interface to the standard phone line  
  22. (POTS - Plain Old Telephone Service) as well as ISDN.   It has two plugs.

  27. The PhoneKit does decode the tones on a POTS line and sends the proper  
  28. messages to the NXPhoneCall instance.  There are some problems with some  
  29. of the notification messages though that may cause some problems.  I've  
  30. researched voice calls quite extensively on POTS and have only tried it on  
  31. ISDN twice.  I'll completely research the ISDN handling of voice calls  
  32. after the holidays -- the times are busy now...

  34. The first requirement for programming with the PhoneKit though is a  
  35. network interface (see first question).  Once you have this I have a pile  
  36. of code......

  44. I can only really speak for the US/North America situation.  I believe the  
  45. hardware will work on the European phone network, but I have no experience  
  46. in that area.  (This discussion may best be continued in c.s.n.programmer)
