  27. This could mean that there are screen fonts for Palatino-Roman (thus the

  29. re-installing the complete typeface should help in most cases (we had  
  30. similar troubles here and fixed 'em that way --- maybe we were lucky,  
  31. though).

  35. ] 1.    When I print to a remote Apple NTX-J over NFS, things work.

  41. Uses NeXT-fonts ;-) , since the NeXT does all the rendering; the printer  
  42. is only a laser printer engine with no PS interpreter. The fonts installed  
  43. on your NeXT are being used for the printout as well. Since there seem to  
  44. be something wrong with them, the printout shows up erroneous.

  46. ] 3.    When I try to print the public domain Architect font 
  47. ]     (never very predictable, even under 2.1) I get screen fonts,
  48. ]     but Courier on paper.

  50. ??? Might be a type 3 font, but why doesn't it work on the printer if it

  54. ] To review steps taken thus far:
  55. ] 1.    Deleted the hidden files in the /LocalLibrary/Fonts 
  56. ]     directory (.afmcache, .fontdirectory, and .fontlist), 
  57. ] 2.    Logged in as root,ran buildafmdir and cacheAFMData 
  58. ] 3.    Made sure the permissions were set correctly for everybody,
  59. ] 4.    Logged back in as myself, and 
  60. ] 5.    Was promptly disappointed by what I saw.

  62. ] Any helpful hints from Those Who Know Better?

  64. Try re-installing one of the mentioned fonts and do steps 1-5 again. Maybe  
  65. it'll help a bit.
