  15. Ever need just one more free entry on your NeXTSTEP dock.
  16. Well, here's one way to do it.  I have only done this under
  17. 3.0, so I am not sure if it will work on older versions.

  19. The trick is to move the Recycler icon off the dock.  Here's
  20. how:

  22. 1. Open a terminal session and type "dread -n DockPaths" at
  23. the command line.
  24.  
  25. This will return the current entries on your dock.  Mine
  26. looks like this:

  28. Workspace DockPaths "Workspace Manager;/NextApps/Preferences.app;
  29. /NextApps/Mail.app;/NextApps/Librarian.app;/NextApps/Edit.app; ;
  30. /NextDeveloper/Apps/ProjectBuilder.app;
  31. /NextDeveloper/Apps/InterfaceBuilder.app;
  32. /NextApps/Terminal.app; ; ; ;Recycler"

  34. (NOTE:  the above will appear as one line, I added newlines
  35. so the various news reader don't complain.)

  37. 2. Write out a new DockPaths entry without the Recycler
  38. entry.

  49. 3. Logout and login again.  You should have a blank entry
  50. at the bottom of you dock and the Recycler icon will show
  51. up at the bottom rightmost corner just like any normal
  52. application icon.

  54. 4. I did the same thing with the Workspace Manager entry
  55. and "it just worked".  I got a free entry at the top of my dock.
  56. But I didn't get a File Viewer and couldn't log out since I
  57. couldn't get to the Workspace menu.  Therefore I would NOT
  58. recommend this.

  60. 5. Note that this is not supported by me, FannieMae or NeXT.
