- A local owner of a '030 cube, who has not used the cube since the 1.0x days,
- just bought the CD-ROM and Drive upgrade to 3.0.
-
- He can't read the CD-ROM, of course. But he was also told his '030 could NOT
- run 3.0, and that the cube could NOT be upgraded to an '040, either 25 or 33
- Mhz.
-
- This does not ring true. I've run 3.0 on an '030, and although it needs more
- than 16 Meg to run well enough, it does run. I am not aware of any problems
- upgrading a '89 cube to an '040. The monitor has the mike built in, so it's
- not as old as is possible.
-
- Any input on these claims? He is hesitant to try to find an '040 board based
- only on my opinion.
-
- And I figure I can upgrade him (he has the CD-ROM) by net-booting him on my
- network.
