  18. I keep wondering about this. My NeXTCube has never crashed though
  19. it's run out of disk space on "/" (Same partition as the swap space)
  20. many times. Some times I have several large Improv worksheets, Mathematica,
  21. ImageViewer and several other things running ... vm_stat reports 
  22. something like 20 pages free (i.e. out of real memory) and the disk is
  23. full..df reports 101% use on /, but the machine does not crash. I keep
  24. worrying about it because everyone has told me it would crash, but it never
  25. does. I've got 24MB in my cube..

  27. I have 16MB in my turbo color slab and it does crash when the disk
  28. fills up where the swap space is. I wonder if its because the slab
  29. runns 3.0 and the cube runs 2.1 , or because the cube has 24 MB real 
  30. while the slab has only 16 MB, or what.

  42. Well, i have noticed the quota system missing from the NeXT..and while it might
  43. be nice for a BBS machine, I have never missed the process / thread limits
  44. so common to the rest of the world. I hate the "csh: fork failed" that I
  45. get on our HP's every time a big assignment is due and I try to fire up
  46. emacs, cc, or anything.

  48. I can live without a BBS system for the NeXT for a while...who cares?
  49. ftp seems to work pretty well.

  51. What I would REALLY like for the next is a good communications program
  52. (kinda free, like so many of the PC world) that includes ZModem.

  55. I know there are comm programs that cost money out there but ...sigh.
  56. I like going down to the local "HardWare Shop" , pointing at a 
  57. Supra 14.4 modem and having a NeXT flow control cable and _NeXT_ 
  58. communication software included. This MAC software that came with the
  59. modem doesn't work well with NeXTs (or at all, in fact) .

  61. I'm one of those people who hates mail order and must HAVE IT TODAY, and
  62. NeXT software is simply not that available yet. Oh Well.
