- I have the opportunity to purchase a used MIPS computer from my
- employer. They're headed towards 486's :-)
-
- This is the information I have been able to gather from the system
- itself. What I'm trying to find answers to are the following
- questions:
- a) Should I purchase this system?
- b) How much should I offer? The machine is about 3 years old.
- c) Can I get newer versions of the operating system?
- and any other things you think I have to know.

- Main Cabinet is labelled MIPS RISComputer RC3260
- Back is labelled Model M2000-L8
-
- Auxiliary cabinet is marked RISComputer RC3350
- Back is labelled RC3350-EC
- Used only for external disks.

- From the syslog stuff at bootup:
-
- CPU: MIPS R3000A Processor Chip Revision: 3.0
- FPU: MIPS R3010A VLSI Floating Point Chip Revision: 4.0
- RISC/os Release 4_52 mips Version UMIPS

- Also, the system has serial ports as well as an ethernet interface.
- In addition, there's a SCSI tape on the front (120Mb?).
- I looked for some sort of "print what hardware you have" command but was
- unable to find it. The system was set up not to print all the
- "config" data upon bootup. The following was kind of taken from the
- list of configured devices:
- Major Function
- -----------------------------
- 16 ISI serial I/O controller
- 22 Interphase SCSI - I tink it's not supported
- 33 SCSI interface (m/12) for disk and tape
- 37 keyboard (m/12) - I think it's not supported
- 49 virtual disk interface
- 127 SSI interface (X.25 I think)
- plus all the standard drivers (mem, clone, prf, klog, etc).
-
-
- Any help, info, and pointers would be greatly appreciated!
