  13. I've recently bought a NEC CD Rom drive (model CDR-25) to connect to my
  14. Mac II SI. Along with the drive, I also bought the "Sherlok Holmes consulting
  15. detective" game. The game contains many real-time video parts.

  17. The problem is that the game crashes ("corrupt scene file") randomly when
  18. playing the video scenes. Sometimes, it'll play out the entire scene, and othe
  19. times it will crash at random intervals.
  20. I get the same behaviour on a Mac II SI running 7.0 (with tuner) and on a CX
  21. running 6.0.7.
  22. Just before the crash, the screen gets somewhat garbled, so currently I'm
  23. suspecting the NEC driver to cause memory problems (the NecCDDrvr that came
  24. with the drive is version 2.25).
  25. I've played a lot of other CD-ROMs, including some containing QuickTime movies
  26. without problems...
