-
- MacWorld's April 91 issue, p. 122, says:
-
- "Apple's most common response to companies trying to clone its hardware
- or software has been to wield its mighty financial and legal weight
- against those involved. Franklin Computer [got sued and lost]. Digital
- [got sued and lost]. Cadmus [got bought and vanished]. Outbound
- Systems, which like Dynamac and Colby, uses Mac ROM chips for its
- portable, seems to have gotten a little too good. Like Cadmus, Outbound
- is now entangled in a confidential and complex agreement with Apple."
-
-
- By the way, AppleLink's HotNews says:
-
- OUTBOUND IS LAYING OFF 50 of its 60 employees and has ceased manufacturing
- its line of portable notebook Macintosh-compatible PC's. --S.J. Mercury 12/11

-
- Anyone know what action, if any, Apple really took against/with
- Outbound? I trust that issue of MacWorld not at all, seeing as how the
- cover (20 months ago, remember) says "Special: MAC CLONES. After 7
- years, Apple has competition for the Mac." :-)
-
- Send me email; I'll summarize if anyone cares, but this isn't really a
- topic for c.s.m.p...
