- I just moved to a MacIIfx after using a IIcx or ci (not sure which it was).
-
- 1. When I try to open Traveling Software's Laplink MacIII it enters the
- debugger with a bus error. (When I "ea" it exits with "error of type
- 1".) On subsequent tries, it thinks another application is using the
- modem port. (When I tell it that this is not the case, it bombs with
- "problem activating the master process [-17]".)
-
- 2. When I try to open certain MS-Word files from an open-file dialogue I
- get "not enough memory to complete operation" error. If I try to open
- these files by double-click on the file and word is not runing, I get
- "not enough memory to run word" even though there's 6+meg. If I double
- click when word is running, sometimes I get an insufficient memory
- error and sometimes the machine just hangs with the watch cursor up.
- I can open other files just fine, including much larger ones. It
- doesn't help to increase the application's memory. The problem files
- are all versions of the same document (printed successfully on the
- previous machine).
-
- Both problems happen under both system 6 and system 7 under either 24
- and 36 bit addressing. While 2. could be attributed to a corrupt group
- of files, 1. makes me wonder ... Anyone know of software
- incompatibilities or other quirks involving the IIfx that might be
- behind this - and fixes?
