- Disclaimer: I don't represent Dartmouth and Dartmouth doesn't represent me.
-
- In <1992Dec23.192837.16797@dartvax.dartmouth.edu> I WROTE:
-
- >I can repeat the problem you describe in WordPerfect 2.1.2
- >but when I do the same thing with Word 5.1a I can re-establish the QT link
- >to the copy of the movie on the server without any problems.
-
- After further discussion with Nigel I have concluded that I was using a
- 'comtaminated' QT movie in my first comparison of Word and WordPerfect. By
- contaminated I mean that the file must have been copied on and off of a
- Novell server some time since I downloaded it.
-
- I have repeated the experiment with two movies chosen at random from sumex
- and Word and WordPerfect both behave in exactly the same manner (that is,
- they both choke on the movie if it is shifted to a Novell volume).
-
- So I retract my previous comments about Word. My faith in WordPerfect is
- restored.
-
- But it is easy enough to work around this so I'm not so sure that Novell
- needs to give this too much concern.
-
- Apologetically,
-
