- Hello.
-
- The "About This Macintosh" window says I have an LC when I actually have an
- LC II ! This after I re-installed the system software. Is this normal?
-
- Thanks in advance

- More info:
-
- I had the logic board of my LCII replaced a while ago. After the installation
- of the logic board, my computer would freeze very often. Since this would
- happen regardless of what software I was using (and since I got a brand new
- logic board) I decided to re-install the system software from the disks that
- came with the computer. After the installation, I noticed that the "About this
- Macintosh" window said "Macintosh LC". Also the computer would still freeze.
- So I took it back and had another logic board installed. This time the computer
- worked fine. The repairman suggested that the reason it (still) says "LC"
- instead of "LCII" is that the sys-soft that came on the disks with the computer
- may have been compiled before the LCII was out, and only recognizes LC's.
-
- Does this make sense? Can I download a newer version of the system software
- that would properly recognize the computer? Right now, the window says
- "Macintosh LC/System Software 7.0.1*". Hmmm... the icon for the computer has
- only one disk-drive like the LCII. I'm sure that it must have said LCII when I
- first got it otherwise I would remember noticing it. Would do other people
- have?
-
-
- ALSO: when i got the computer back, I noticed that the gray rectangle between
- pages of a word-processor creates a 'shadow' that goes across the screen. This
- is not so noticable with an Apple monitor but is quite noticable with my NEC
- 3FGx (to the point where it is somewhat annoying). Again, I don't remember this
- problem before I took the computer for repair. Has anybody had similar trouble
- with their LCII - NEC 3FGx ?
-
- Thanks. (Enjoy the holidays!...)
