  15. Tank you all of you sent me e-mail for my question about
  16. X-server program on Mac. I have received several replies.
  17. Here is summary.

  19. 1.how to get MacX
  20.     MacX is bundled with AU/X 3.0 but also sold separetly.
  21.     Suggested retail price is $239.00 in USA.
  22.     MacX can be ordered through Apple dealer in USA.
  23.     Call the Apple catalog, 1-800-795-1000 or (800) 554-5999.

  25.     But in Japan, MacX is NOT sold as a separate product.
  26.     (I called Apple Japan yesterday and they told so....)
  27.     So I have to contact with dealer or Apple itself in USA.

  29.     BTW eXodus is sold in Japan. But its suggested retail 
  30.     price is over $500..

  32. 2.MacX,eXodus, and what else...
  33.     There are two major X-server programs on Mac: MacX and
  34.     eXodus.
  35.     Most people who replyed to me are using MacX.
  36.     
  37.     deguise@ccrs.emr.ca (J.-C Deguise) wrote that there is 
  38.     another X-server program called PlanetX. But he didn't 
  39.     know about it either.

  41.     One reply from Japan said there is X-server program which
  42.     is included in DEC Pathworks for Macintosh. But he 
  43.     does not know anything about that. So, please contact 
  44.     DEC,if you are interested in.

  46. 3.pros. and cons. about MacX and eXodus
  47.     I could not get enough info to compare these products,
  48.     especially acout eXodus.

  52.         Good handling of rootless window

  54.         Slow, memory eater( even with 5Mb you can get "out of
  55.         memory" message)
  56.         doesn't communicate with Ultrix
