- Hey all,
-
- I cannot get the spooler to function properly under 2.2.5. If this is
- all better in 2.2.7, I appologize for the waste in bandwidth, but I
- haven't had a chance to install the new version, so...
-
- Here's my long_haul.rc file:
- --- long_haul.rc ---
- 9601
- cmu N:loos.edrc.cmu.edu/9601 N:barbera.nectar.cs.cmu.edu/9601 0
- sean N:levy.slip.andrew.cmu.edu/9601 0
- --- eof ---
-
- (loos=pmax/ultrix, barbera=sun4/sunos41, levy=rs6k/aix3.1.5)
-
- I have a machine at home (the "sean" domain) and a group of machines on
- campus (the "cmu" domain) that I want to link up with the spooler. The
- machine at home runs SLIP over a V.42bis modem to campus, which works
- just fine.
-
- The first time I fire up the spooler on a campus machine, it looks OK
- for a while -- all the process groups get created, log files get
- written, and it makes connections to other campus machines running ISIS.
- However, it fails to connect to the machine over SLIP, because it tries
- to connect via the wrong port #, even though I've explicitly set the
- port number both on the command line and in the sites and long_haul.rc
- files (sorry, but I cannot get ISIS to reproduce this now for some odd
- reason -- even though none of the spooler process groups exist, and I
- removed all logs by hand, it will not start from scratch). When I ^C out
- and try again, I get the following sort of run:
- --- transcript ---
- barbera.nectar.cs.cmu.edu/p0:/barbera/usr0/isis/spool [Tuesday 29 Dec 7:37pm]
- 25 % spooler 9601 -v -llong_haul.rc
- ld.so: warning: /usr/lib/libc.so.1.6 has older revision than expected 7

- I get that "could'nt do initial bind, sleeping..." message forever,
- until it finally gives up.
-
- At any rate, I've never gotten the spooler to come up properly on any
- machine, sun, pmax or rs6k. If anyone out there is using the spooler, or
- can give advice on how to configure this, I'd be most appreciative. I
- have an application that needs it desparately.
