- I am getting the dreaded "162" (basically, Bad Configuration) message
- on a Model 30 286 PS/2. Popping in the startup disk and running
- through the automatic configuration has no positive effect. Running
- the hardware tests finds nothing amiss, either. The machine is still
- usable; it's just irritating having to hit F1 on startup all the time.

- To my knowledge, we've never gotten the automatic configuration to
- work with this damn machine. It always screws things up like this.

- Anyway, I "backed up" the bad configuration settings (we didn't have a
- backup of the good settings) and got a "SYSCONF" file like the
- following written to drive A:

- Now, it seems to me this is a combination of CMOS values and various
- other observations about the machine. Does anyone know what order
- everything is in? Does anyone have a map of the Model 30 286 CMOS or
- just the CMOS of PS/2's in general?

- Any help would be appreciated. I've done a bit of snooping, and I
- can't find any useful technical docs on the net.
