- RE downloading from a mainframe under PC PLUS, if'n it's an IBM MF under
- VM/CMS or MVS, chances are it's only up/download protocol is Kermit. If so,
- you'll have to invoke Kermit on the MF, (on our system, one just types
- "kermit". Then issue command to "SEND (filename) (filetype)". No quotes
- or parens, of course). Then you'll get a screen (from PCPlus) telling
- you selct dl protocol (select kermit) . Maybe you have to press the
- [PgDn] key to invoke - I forget. Anyway, once the two kermits handshake,
- (assuming they do) you're home free. When the dl is finished, the
- file will be in your PCPlus directory. Once control is passed back to
- the MF, you'll have to use an "EXIT" command to get out of kermit.
-
- -- All this assumes kermit is on the mainframe. Probably it is; it's
- the main file xfer protocol out there for mf/micro xfers.

- it's been a while since I've used.
