- For my two cents, I strongly recommend against buying any equipment against
- the prospect of a driver appearing. I have a stack of equipment in the corner
- of my lab that is "awaiting drivers; anytime now" for os/2. Some of it
- the maker has promised "to be working on a driver" for 6 months. I'm not
- holding my breath. I'm not trying to flame here: many video card makers
- blame the fact that the Video DDK does not yet exist, which is true.
- But such "any day now" promises are trash. A good example is the S3 911 cards
- (such as orchid F1280). The drivers have just come out, and still don't
- support seamless mode. In the meantime, the sucessor to the 911 has come
- out, the 928, which (suprise) has no os/2 driver (but certainly a windows
- driver !). The point being that having bought such a card, you may well find
- that it is obsolete by the time you get a driver.
- Besides, buying a card with a driver promised rewards sloth. Card makers don't
- get money for producing drivers. They get it when you buy the card.
- Asking for the os/2 drivers and refusing purchase unless provided with the card
- gets the point across.

- (Me ? I'm going with XGA-2, which is supported by the software MAKERS of
- BOTH os/2 and WIN 3.x/NT).
