  25. True, the BIOS is not used by any UNIX's, but the fdisk fucntion done by
  26. UNIX's does create a partition table on the disk and it is here where
  27. the problems come in.  If you are not using DOS on the disk, it doesn't
  28. matter if the partition table has more than 1024 cylinders written to
  29. it, but then again you wouldn't need the BIOS/firmware upgrade either.
  30. If DOS is on the same physical disk as UNIX, the partition table will
  31. get over-written by the UNIX fdisk with it's own parameters, which are
  32. usually hard-coded at 64/32 and this is where the problem is.
  33. The BIOS/firmware upgrade is only useful for DOS only systems where the
  34. disk is larger than 1GB (2^10).
