- Most are standard, but once I learned that some are not, I took to
- testing them as follows:
-
- Use an Ohmmeter to measure from the power pins on the 8-bit slots (or
- the 8-bit section of the connector) to the power pins. Measure with
- both lead polarities so you don't get faked out. Since the bus slots
- are sta
- ndard, any funny business with the power connector shows right up.
-
- Here are the bus connections:
-
- Rear Panel
- B A
- 1 GND
- 2
- 3 +5
- 4
- 5 -5
- 6
- 7 -12
- 8
- 9 +12
- 10 GND
-
- The standard sequence of power pins is as follows:
-
- +5
- +5 IBM P9
- +5
- -5
- GND
- GND _______IBM connector split here
- GND
- GND
- -12 IBM P8
- +12
- KEY (no lead on IBM PS, NO pin on some MB's)
- PWR GOOD
-
- On the power connector, front and rear vary among boards, but standard
- sequence is the same for many.
