- I have a Bondwell B310 (286) laptop with a Radio Shack 25-2001
- "Combi-Mouse" on one of the built-in serial ports. Up until recently,
- I've been able to use the Microsoft mouse driver from Windows 3.0
- with no problems.
-
- Suddenly last week, though, the mouse driver stopped detecting the
- mouse. If I use a Logitech mouse driver, it finds the mouse, but I can't
- seem to get it to work with Windows 3.0. The mouse does work with some other
- software...
-
- Yes, I've tried the mouse on both serial ports, and I've tried a
- different mouse. Neither solved the problem, so it looks like a
- problem in the laptop. I'm hoping there might be some real obscure
- configuration problem, but it could be hardware - <gulp>.
-
- I've put an RS-232 analyzer, which shows activity using some LEDs, on
- the mouse port. I see lots of activity when the Logitech driver
- starts up, but *none* when the Microsoft driver starts. This suggests
- that there's something in the Microsoft driver code which gets unhappy
- even before it gets talking to the mouse.
-
- So... Is anyone out there a mouse guru who can tell me exactly what the
- Microsoft mouse driver expects to see (in both hardware and data from
- the mouse) in order to start up? How about a list of switches for the
- Microsoft mouse driver? Debug mode?
-
- Also, are there any comprehensive test programs for mice which will tell
- me if it's doing everything it's supposed to?
-
- Any help you can give on this would be appreciated.
