- I believe Gateway uses a proprietary memory board to which you can add
- memory chips (perhaps SIMMs). $165/4MB is a bit steap but not excessive.

- The MIcronic motherboard (like the soon to be released Diamond
- motherboard, and possibly certain others) uses 36 bit wide SIMM's.
- This is basically 4 9 bit wide SIMM's rolled into a single module.
- This was done to allow a greater amount of memory on the motherboard,
- since the 9 bit wide SIMM could only handle up to 4 MB. By switching
- to the 36 bit wide, 64 MB (and maybe 128 MB, I am not certain) can be
- placed on the motherboard.
