  10. I think all of the Gateway VL-Bus systems use Micronics motherboards.
  11. Anyway, it seems that these motherboards take some strange, non-standard
  12. type of RAM.  Talking to a sales rep at Gateway, I found out that they want
  13. $165 (U.S. dollars) for each additional 4Meg of RAM.  When I commented that
  14. that price seemed high, the salesperson told me that these motherboards
  15. do not accept SIMMs.  She said they take "EISA memory" (whatever that is).

  17. I called back a second time to talk to somebody more knowledgable about
  18. this, but I was unlucky enough to get the same person (and the same story).

  20. Does anybody know what type of memory the Micronics VL-Bus motherboards accept?
  21. This news somewhat blew my plans to get one of these motherboards, since I
  22. was planning to use some of the SIMMs from my old motherboard.  Not only can
  23. I not use my RAM, but I would have to pay $165/4Meg for new memory.

  25. Can anybody explain this?  I'm sure this could affect the decisions of many
  26. others that are considering a Micronics VL-Bus motherboard.
