- Sad, isn't it, that some people can be so narrow-minded. A Sega
- MegaDrive with the CD-ROM will indeed be good at games, but it's so
- hopeless at anything else. Anyone who has even seen an Amiga in action
- will know that the opinion of an Amiga as a 'games machine and nothing
- else' is rubbish; this attitude is the bane of all Amiga users around
- the world.
-
- I'm the first to admit that the PC has more number-crunching power than
- a normal Amiga and has a much broader and well-established user-base of
- business software, but I'm afraid that the Amiga can beat a PC hands
- down when it comes to sound, graphics, video and ease of use. How many
- people realise that some parts of Windows 3 were based on parts of the
- Amiga Workbench 2 OS?
-
- I'm glad to see that you acknowledge that the current fastest Amigas
- (A3000s with 68040 50MHz accelerator cards) blow the brains out of any
- 486; just wait until Motorola release the 68060 (which is the next chip
- Commodore-Amiga are supposed to be using in the next generation of
- Amigas) - it's unimaginable, the speed and power of these new
- processors.
-
- So to sum up - PC's are good for business, but are being held back by
- archaic architecture and are pretty awful at games, video and sound;
- the Sega MegaDrive + CD-ROM is good for games but nothing else; the
- Amiga is the best for video and sound, and if you add the A570 CD-ROM
- drive to the Amiga (which is already on sale), then it can easily beat
- the Sega hollow.
-
- All I want is for people to think twice before they condemn the Amiga
- as a games machine.
