  14. I sent the brand new QED 1.09 public evaluation release to
  15. hp48@seq.uncwil.edu, so I hope you'll soon find it in
  16. comp.sources.hp48. A really nasty bug has been fixed that could
  17. have caused system crashes.

  19. This is an excerpt of QED.TXT:

  21. 1.08  01-09-92   Only a very small change has been made compared to
  22.                   version 1.07: If you've got lots of libraries
  23.                   installed, you won't see QED leave with an
  24.                   insufficient memory error - QED now allocates
  25.                   some memory to save the ROM-entry table for
  26.                   this case.
  27.                  NOTE: Only registered versions of QED are changed,
  28.                   the evaluation version stays 1.07

  30. 1.09  21-12-91   Sorry to anyone who suffered data loss when running
  31.                   QED 1.08 - there was a bug in it that caused
  32.                   system crashes under some low-memory-conditions
  33.                   and on ROM revisions < E.
  34.                   This bug hasn't been in QED 1.07...
  35.                   I spent a lot of hours on QED 1.08 just to
  36.                   reproduce the bug, than another couple of hours
  37.                   to fix it.
  38.                   Now everything should definitely work fine... you
  39.                   may load your 48sx with hundreds of libraries,
  40.                   and even the PICT is not scrambled any longer -
  41.                   only if your PICT is smaller than 131*64 pixel,
  42.                   it will be resized to 131*64 and cleared.
  43.                  The default QED.keys object is now much more complete
  44.                   and similar to the original key-table, especially
  45.                   the right-shift-ALPHA keys have been added...
  46.                  The KEYED has been renamed to KED, put in its
  47.                   own subdirectory and modified a little bit.
  48.                   (see KED instructions)
  49.                  The 6x6 font is now complete, as the 6x8 font has
  50.                   been before. In the 5x6 font are still some
  51.                   seldom used characters missing.

  54. I believe this version to be _very_very_ stable, but I also know
  55. nothing is perfect at all...

  57. I hope you'll enjoy this version of QED even more than the versions
  58. before, and take a look not only on the new executable, but also 
  59. at the default fonts and the reworked key-table, both have been
  60. improved.

  65. your licensed executable uuencoded. If you don't have an email
