- I am starting to explore the internal operation of my 48, now I have over a
- years experience in "normal" use. I have pulled a number of files from
- seq.uncwil.edu, mainly innards by Alonzo Gariepy and Internals by Derek Nickel.
- Both are excellent insights into internal operation but...
-
- I am confused about the Memory Layout, and modification of the layout in the 48
- internal memory scanner mode. My 48 does not agree with Alonzo, in that the
- first object in HOME is near memory address FFFF0 (in scan mode). I have
- labouriously decoded manually my memory in that area, and identified that
- it contains part of my directory structure, deep in the tree, not HOME.
-
- Also, Alonzo mentions that the address of the screen's second line in scan mode
- is F0A8C. Experiments make me think that it is F0AA4 (screen mode, not plot!)
-
- I suppose my question is,
- 1. What am I doing wrong, Alonzo and Derek's work is detailed, I can't fault it,
- however these inconsistencies make me very nervous.
- 2. I am using HP48 rev E with 32K extra RAM in the slot closest to the screen,
- would this make a difference?
- 3. Where can I get more information on memory structure?
- 4. Where can I get more information on machine code programming for the 48
- either actually on the 48 or on UNIX machines?
-
- Thanks
- James
