- I am trying to determine the best price/performance of a dial-up modem
- to be used on a HPUX system running SLIP. I would love to hear how well
- this has worked for other folks. In particular, we will be running SLIP
- on HPUX 700's, HPUX 800's, Sun Sparc2 w/SCSImux, PC's and Mac's, so any
- relavent information on those is welcome. As there are so many modems
- available that it is hard to make an informed decision. And to add to
- the complexities there are all sorts of SLIP-variants that work well
- in some situations....
-
- If you would be so kind as to e-mail I will summarize and post. The results
- may be interesting to many folks but I doubt all the details are.
-
- The specifics I need are:
-
- Hardware
- OS
- SLIP-software
- SLIP-config
- Interface/Speed
- Modem
-
- an example would be:
-
- HP710
- HPUX 8.07
- HPUX PPL
- Default SLIP config
- Serial Port A, 56K, 8bits, no parity
- Telebit WorldBlazer
-
- (2 710's back-to-back)
-
- Also any limiting stories (ive seen some of the DTE-speed notes in this group)
- would be nice to know (if you hit the limits on something!).
-
- Thanks!
