- just upgraded to 9.0 from 8.0 on my 822/S and have a couple of comments.
-
- - i did not do the LVM upgrade, can i do it later without a re-install?
- - the NFS is *much* nicer, finally i can export root access and directories
- only
-
- On my 822/S (vintage October 1990) i need a firmware upgrade to allow the
- boot process to continue correctly. HP is doing this on Monday, but as it
- stands now, there is a TWENTY MINUTE pause just after these messages:
-
- WARNING: Old HPIB firmware encountered.
- Operations using this firmware could take a VERY long time.
-
- they aren't kidding, you'll watch the disk lights flicker in a set pattern
- for 20 minutes, and then it will boot. these messages are just after the ISL
- hpux boot command, Santa knows what it is doing.
