- I recently arrived home to my C64 and discovered that it could no longer
- read any files off any of my disks. I couldn't even get a directory. Well,
- my first thought was alignment problems, but the error I found when I
- checked the DOS error channel was "74, Drive not ready, 00, 00". The back
- of my 1541 manual says that this error occurs when I don't have a disk in
- the drive. Is that the only thing that would cause this error? Could
- an unconnected pin or bad cable give me this error?
- (The disk drive door is shut, and the disk whirrs just a bit before I
- get this error. Repeated attempt produce the red blinking light again,
- but no whirr.)
- I just have a couple days left before I must separate from
- my c64 for another semester, so any advice or stories of similar problems
- would be appreciated!
